JONESBOROUGH - Donna Jo Cox, 69, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, of Jonesborough, Tennessee, went Home to be with the Lord, on Tuesday, November 7, 2023.
Donna was the daughter of the late William Gordon Cox and Betty Sue Blackburn Cox. She grew up in the Dry Creek community in Jonesborough, Tennessee where her parents were the caretakers of the (former) Buffalo Mountain Methodist Camp for 20 years.
Donna loved her family, her home in the mountains, and her beloved dog, Rebel. She loved the Lord with all her heart and soul. She retired from Siemens in 2005, and in her later years, she found new purpose and joy in caring for the elderly.
In addition to her parents, Donna was preceded in death by one and only true love, Roger Ramsey.
Survivors include her daughters: Nicole Arrowood (Knoxville, TN) and Krystal Ramsey Barber; grandchildren: Gordon Bradley Teague and his wife Loren, Savannah Barber, Jason Barber II, Ava Long, Taylor Jones, and Serenity Jones; great-grandchildren: Seth Teague, Ryan Kirkpatrick, Rosemarie Teague, and Lucille Teague; siblings: Theresa Ramsey and Dana, William "Billy" Gordon Cox and wife Roxanne, and Brian Cox and significant other Tara; much-loved nieces and nephews, Dana Ramsey, Jr., Bill Cox and wife Lindsay, Matthew Cox and wife Hannah, Spencer Cox, and Tanya Cox (and their mother, Aimee); great-nieces: Isabella Rose Cox, Sloan Cox, Liza Cox, and Azariah Cox; an uncle, several aunts, and cousins; and her dog, Rebel.
Donna's family will receive friends from 5:00-8:00 pm on Monday, November 20, 2023, at Morris-Baker Funeral Home, followed by a funeral at 8:00 pm. A committal service will commence at 11:00 am on Tuesday, November 21, 2023, at the Cherry Grove-Keplinger Cemetery. Those attending are asked to please gather at the cemetery by 10:55 am. Active pallbearers include: Gordon Bradley Teague, Dana Ramsey, Jr., Bill Cox, Matthew Cox, Spencer Cox, and Jeff Forbes; honorary pallbearer is Jason Barber II.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in remembrance of Donna Jo Cox to Dry Creek Freewill Baptist Church (Attn: Pat Shell, 820 Dry Creek Road, Jonesborough, TN 37659).
