Don and I were friends from 1973 until his passing. We traveled together, rode horses, traded horses, went to a few parties and might've had a drink of Jack Daniels. My kids called him "Uncle Don" and I wrote a series of novels in which a sheriff was based on Don's life. One of the best friends I ever had. My condolences to his family, especially D.W. Carrie, Amy and nephew Fred.
