JOHNSON CITY - Clyde Grindstaff, 81, of Johnson City, Tennessee, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 22, 2023 at the Johnson City Medical Center. He was born in Erwin, Tennessee, a son of the late Betty Buckner. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by five sisters and two brothers.
Clyde was a member of Harrison Christian Church. He had participated in numerous church boards and was a member of the Couple for Christ Sunday School Class. He had worked for Holston Defense as a Foreman and BAE Systems as a Consultant. He was an avid football and NASCAR fan and loved golfing and fishing. He was also a member of the Holston Defense Bowling League where they were champions on numerous occasions. Clyde also enjoyed trading cars, guns, and anything he could buy or sale.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Melba Grindstaff; one daughter, Leesia Casey and husband Bobby; one son, Wesley Grindstaff and girlfriend Robyn Bellis; one grandson, Bentley Casey and girlfriend Ava Hubbard; one sister, Bea Buck; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, November 28, 2023 from 11:00AM until 1:00PM at Monte Vista Funeral Home. Funeral Service will follow at 1:00PM with Pastor Donnie Humphrey officiating. Committal Service and Interment will follow in Sermon on the Mount at Monte Vista Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Wesley Grindstaff, Bentley Casey, Evan White, Allen Shipley, Craig Bennett, and Jonathan King. Honorary pallbearers will be Sherrill Zimmerman, Jim Davis, Dr. Richard Beaver, John Simpson, and Bobby Simpson.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the numerous family and friends for all the love and care that was shown.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
