Clara "Ruth" Leedy Linville

UNICOI - Clara "Ruth" Leedy Linville, age 94, of Unicoi, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus on Wednesday, October 09, 2024. She was a native of Gray, Tennessee and daughter of the late James Leedy and Nell Johnson Leedy. Ruth lived most of her life in Unicoi.
She was employed for over thirty years at Bakers Cleaners in Erwin. After Ruth retired, she began volunteering full-time at the Mountain Home Veterans Administration until she was ninety years old. Ruth enjoyed helping the veterans by cooking for them, making crafts with them and helping them schedule appointments.
Ruth was an active member of Unicoi Methodist Church where she sang in the choir and served as the food coordinator for many years. She loved roses and liked planting pretty flowers. Ruth was a humble, kind-hearted woman who loved her family dearly. She was devoted to her husband, son, and grandchildren. Ruth was a meticulous homemaker who made everyone feel welcome in her home.
In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-six years, H.C. Linville who passed away on June 02, 2004; her son, Carl Michael Linville; two brothers: Sammy Leedy and Jimmy Leedy; several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Ruth leaves behind to cherish her memory, her grandson and caregiver, Michael Jeff Linville (Debbie), Rebecca Christian Linville, and Anthony Starnes (Kristy); five great grandchildren: Rebecca Wallace, Elizabeth Ferradaz (Jose), Cody Starnes, Ashley Starnes, and Tyler Starnes; great-great grandson, Blake Wallace; brother, Roy Leedy (Nancy); two sisters: Shirley Street, and Shelby McDonald; daughter-in-law, Betty Linville; brothers-in-law: Don Yeager, and Jerry Ramsey; sisters-in-law: Kay McInturff, and Eula Tipton; numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, from 11:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Unicoi Methodist Church. Dr. Mike Pinner and Reverend Roy Leedy will officiate Ruth's 1:00 p.m. funeral service. Music will be provided by Teresa Parkey and Elsie Forbes. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be Tony Street, Richard Turner, Jr. Osborne, Steve Tilson, Lynn Bradshaw, Jeff Linville, David Ramsey, Mark Ramsey, Austin Huskins, and Greg Tipton. Honorary pallbearers will be Jose Ferradaz, Butch Linville, Dave Linville, Keith Linville, and Cleve Piercy.
