JONESBOROUGH - Chris Wayne Gray, age 53, of Jonesborough, passed away on Tuesday, February 20, 2024 at Johnson City Medical Center. A native of Greeneville, TN, Chris is a son of the late Kenneth Wayne and Shirley Ann (Henley) Gray. He was of the Baptist faith. Chris was an over the road truck driver and an avid outdoorsman. He loved being outside, hunting, fishing and hiking. He always saw the best in people and treated everyone with respect. Chris is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Walter and Evelyn Henley; paternal grandparents, William and Mildred Gray; as well as numerous aunts and cousins.
Chris Wayne Gray has left behind to cherish his memory: wife of 30 years, Robbin Blevins Gray; daughter, Hunter Gray; sisters: Christy Wilburn (Jason) and Crystal Doan (Charles); nieces and nephews: Jonah Thomas, James Thomas, Wyatt Thomas, Jaida Weaver, Grayson Wilburn, Jackson Wilburn, Ella Lindenbeck, Nola Lindenbeck, Rylan Dow and Emma Dow; step-brother, Chris Rogers; step-sister, Bridget Dow (Shawn); father and mother-in-law, Danny and Brenda Blevins; several aunts and cousins; and special dog, PJ "Pewee Jr."
The family would like to offer special thanks to their family physician, Debra Uncapher; to the nurses of ICU 2600 at Johnson City Medical Center; Dr. Ed Crutchfield and his nurse Lauren; Dr. Laura Cox, and especially Traci Ridley.
The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence as we offer tribute and remember the life of Chris Wayne Gray in a funeral service to be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, February 24, 2024 in the chapel at Valley Funeral Home. Pastor Jerry Davis will officiate. A visitation period to share memories and offer support to the family will begin at 12:00 pm on Saturday and will continue until service time at Valley Funeral Home. A graveside committal service will be held following the funeral, in Banner Cemetery in the Martins Creek Community. Those attending the committal service should meet at Valley Funeral Home by 2:00 pm on Saturday to go in procession to the cemetery. Serving as active pallbearers will be: Kenneth Bare, Danny Foster, Randy Thomas, Dwayne Henley, Charles Doan, Christopher Rice and Chris Broyles.
