BLUFF CITY - Charlie John Hughes, 64, Bluff City, passed away Monday, May 29, 2023. He was born August 21, 1958 in Johnson City to the late Jack & Janey Fletcher Hughes. John was a 1976 graduate of David Crockett High School, Jonesborough. He was employed at Pepsico in Sales and Delivery-Frito Lay. John loved old cars, music, working out and hiking and animals. He loved to attend the Elizabethton Car Show. He was a member of Big Springs Baptist Church but attended University Parkway Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jackie Hughes and his Paternal Grandmother: Marie Hughes.
Survivors include his son: Matthew Joel Hughes. A nephew: Jack (Sandy) Hughes, a great-nephew: Hunter Hughes. His ex-wives who were special friends and his caregivers: Sandra Hughes and Anne Hughes. His fur buddy-Butch.
A Memorial Service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 4, 2023, in Memorial Funeral Chapel with Pastor Scott Thompson officiating. Music will be provided by his son Matthew Hughes. The family would like to express a special thank you to the Doctors, Nurses and Staff of Tennessee Cancer Specialists, his many friends for their love and support during his illness and friends and co-workers at Frito-Lay. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. on Sunday prior to the service. It was his wish to be cremated. Condolences may be sent to the family at our website www.memorialfcelizabethton.com.
