BLACKSBURG, VA - Charles Allen ("Charlie") Stott died at his home in Blacksburg, Virginia, August 12, 2023. The middle son of George W. and Sue Daniels Stott, he grew up in Jonesborough, graduating from high school there in 1966. He attended the University of Tennessee before enlisting in the Army in 1968, serving in Vietnam and at the National Security Agency. After his military service, he completed a degree in journalism at the University of Maryland.
Charlie wrote for multiple newspapers in Maryland and Alabama, before moving to Blacksburg. There he spent most of the rest of his career at Virginia Tech in public relations for agriculture and extension units and as a speech writer in the President's Office. He retired in 2014.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Patsy Lavender, and their children Erin (Brookings, SD) and John and his wife Diane (Philadelphia, PA). Also surviving are his brothers and sisters-in-law Mike and Leslie Stott of Johnson City and Dan and Barbara Stott of Jonesborough, plus an aunt and several nephews and nieces.

Patsy and family, so sorry to hear of Charlie's passing. He was such a sweet person. I have many fond memories of Charlie, Mike and Danny growing up. Sending my love e and deepest sympathy.
