HAMPTON - Carolyn Kay Stout, age 80 of Hampton, TN, passed at her home Sunday, November 19th, 2023 after complications related to multiple long term illnesses.
Born in Lamar, TX March 17th, 1943, Carolyn later lived in New Jersey, but always called the mountains of East TN her home.
She was the oldest daughter of the late James Mervin and Mary Maxine Campbell Stout, one of 7 siblings, and grew up in Hampton, TN where she resided until her death. Carolyn loved springtime and the joys of growing roses and flowers. She was an avid cook, working many years at the Community Daycare Center preparing meals for children.
Beside her parents, Carolyn is preceded in death by sisters Marie Johnson and Sherry Ollinger and a grandchild, Everleigh Rayne Nave. Survivors include one son, Charles "Chuck" Nave, wife April Nave, and two grandchildren, Memphis and Sadie Nave of Hampton, two sisters, Debbie Stout of Hampton and Vickey Tipton of Sweetwater, and two brothers Dennis Stout and wife Nancy of Elizabethton and David "Duck" Stout and wife Toni of Elizabethton.
Memorial Funeral Chapel is serving the family. They will receive friends November 28th, 2023 from 11am-12 noon. A graveside service will be conducted by Jerry Stout at 12:30pm at Morton Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be selected from close family and friends.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the nurses and staff of Kingsport Gentiva Hospice. They went above and beyond to ensure Carolyn's final days were peaceful and pain free. Also, a special thank you to the doctors and staff at Roan Mountain Medical Clinic for all the wonderful care throughout the years.
