Carol Colvin Obituary

March 12, 1951 – December 28, 2023

JOHNSON CITY - Carol Ann Friesland Colvin, 72, unexpectedly passed away December 28th in Johnson City, TN. She was preceded in death by her parents Edward and Eula Friesland; brother Lynn Friesland; and brother-in-law Mark Fitzgerald (Delena). She is survived by her husband Darryl; daughters Candice and Cristin Colvin; son-in-law Daniel James (Cristin); sister Delena Fitzgerald; nephew Evan Fitzgerald; and other family members.

Carol was a lifelong educator who began her career at South Side Elementary. She retired from Fairmont Elementary after more than twenty years of service but remained a fixture in the Johnson City School system. Carol's students will remember her love of Elvis Presley; her renditions of his classics were...a joyful noise.

She had a passion for literacy and would gift books to her own children and the children of friends. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Fairmont Elementary School Library Book Fund. Checks can be made to Fairmont Elementary, 1405 Lester Harris Rd, Johnson City, TN 37604, attn: Library Book Fund in Memory of Carol Colvin.

There will be a Visitation and a Celebration of Remembrance at St. John's Episcopal Church, 500 N. Roan St., Johnson City on Sunday, January 7th. Visitation will be from 2:00-3:00pm and the Remembrance will start at 3:00pm.

Darryl, Candice and Cristin, we are so very sorry for the loss of your wonderful wife and mother. We will always remember Carol so fondly. When we moved back east and came back to visit our beloved Johnson City years ago, Carol invited us to supper. Little did we know to expect a huge and amazing spread topped off with a chocolate cake!! She made us feel so special. That´s just who Carol was!!! We are keeping you all in our prayers. With much love, Cathy and Gary Brown and family. Atlanta.
