Carl William Mosley escaped the bonds of this earth and passed into the loving arms of his Heavenly Father on Thursday, August 31, 2023, at the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center after a courageous battle with cancer. Carl was a Christian man and loved his family and his Lord Jesus Christ to the very end. He was born in Johnson City, Tennessee and was 85 years old at death. He was a son of the late John Mosley and Bertha Mosley Early. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Mathella Nell Andrews Mosley; two grandsons, Preston Jones and Dominic William Jones; two brothers, Jim Mosley and Felix Early; and three sisters, Ethel Early Mitchell, June Hunter Lascola and Sue Mosley Hudson.

Carl was a veteran of the United States Navy. During his time of service, he received the following decorations and citations; Third Good Conduct Award, National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (Cuba), Vietnam Service Medal, and Vietnam Campaign Medal. Once his military career was over Carl worked for and retired from the Veterans Administration at Mountain Home, Tennessee. Carl's long military career included serving aboard a US Navy destroyer during the Cuban missile crisis and two tours in Vietnam patrolling the Mekong river and its tributaries. Carl was also involved in the refurbishing of the battleship Missouri and was aboard for the ships six month around world and shakedown cruise.

He is survived by his daughter, Stephanie Jones (Joey); two grandchildren, Zachary Mosley and Katlyne Jones; one niece, Nina Kyker and her family.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, September 5, 2023 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Monte Vista Funeral Home. Funeral Service will follow at 7:00 PM with Rev. Bill Greer officiating. Committal Service and Interment will be held Wednesday, September 6, 2023 at 12:00 PM in the Garden of the Cross at Monte Vista Memorial Park with military honors to be rendered by members of the DAV Honor Guard Post #39 of Bluff City and members of the Navy Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be John Coursen, Brayden Hensley, Jacob Vandergroef, John Andrews, Joey Jones and Sam Sutphin.

The family would like to extend their thanks to the staffs of James H. Quillen VA Medical Center and Community Living Center for all the love and care that was shown.
