Brenda Joyce Campbell, 79, a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, went to be with her heavenly Father on November 27, 2023. She was born on April 8, 1944, to Fred and Maxine Harrison. Brenda grew up in a loving family with two brothers and two sisters, attended Boones Creek School, and lived her life in the Oak Grove community. With family and community, she developed her love for cooking, singing, and caring for others.
While very active in church and music, Brenda met and married Richard "Slim" Campbell, the love of her life. Brenda and Slim went on to have one son, Jeff. Together their journey with Christ continued by providing music, leadership, and teaching in the church. Their close bond allowed them to bring music to many people in locations throughout the region. They were relentless in their support and servitude to God and family.
Brenda admired and shared many characteristics of the biblical Ruth; obedience, love, faith, trust, and humility - a woman of noble character. She had integrity and wasn't afraid of working hard. Most importantly, she trusted her life to God, even amid great pain she was experiencing. She was a symbol of abiding loyalty and devotion.
As Slim's health began to wane, Brenda provided selfless, loving care, day and night, for many years until his passing.
Brenda was preceded in death by her husband, Slim Campbell; father, Fred Harrison; mother, Maxine Harrison; sisters, Joan Emmert and Melba Poteat; and brother, Jimmy Harrison. She is survived by her son and his wife Jeff and Kathy Campbell; granddaughter, Lillie Campbell; and brother, Richard Harrison.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, November 30, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the chapel of Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Blountville, TN. A service will follow at 7:00 p.m. officiated by Evangelist Charles "Toonie" Cash. A private entombment will follow.
