Billy Joe Baker September 6, 1942 - June 24, 2024
JOHNSON CITY - Billy Joe Baker, age 81, of Johnson City, TN passed from this life on Tuesday, June 24, 2024, at Johnson City Medical Center of a pulmonary embolism.
He was born on September 6, 1942, in Johnson City, TN, the son of the late James and Mattie Baker.
Bill was a member of Brookmead Church of Christ of Johnson City. He was a brick mason for JE Green for many years, then a superintendent at the Old Hickory Concrete Pipe, and retired after 20 years as a supervisor of service with the City of Johnson City. He loved spending time with his family, especially watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren play baseball and take them fishing.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Linnis Oliver Baker; two daughters, Keyla Campbell and husband Jeremy, Tamara Baker Reed; five grandchildren- Kylie Jones and husband Patrick, Keaton Wahlbon and wife Olivia, Rylan Campbell, Madison Finch and Issac Kiser, Cadence Finch and Bailey Byrns; great grandchildren, Urijah Jones, Leena Wahlbon, and arriving soon Hudson Kiser and Lincoln Byrns; brothers-in-law, Dennis Oliver and Harold Stevens; and sister-in-law Sara Marie Baker; as well as several nieces and nephews.
At Bill's request, no service or memorial will be held. He had arranged for his body to be donated to the Quillen College of Medicine at ETSU.
