LIMESTONE - Bill Whitson, 83, Limestone, Tennessee passed away peacefully, Tuesday, May 30, 2023, at Johnson City Medical Center. Bill was born in Buladean, North Carolina and was the son of the late Taylor and Mary Jane Whitson. Bill was a long time member, Sunday school teacher, and serving elder of Westside Christian Church in Jonesborough. He retired from Eastman Chemical Company in Kingsport. Bill enjoyed fishing, working the farm, playing cards, and spending time with family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son, Christopher; his brothers, Nathan Whitson and Ed Whitson; his sisters, Myrtle Forbes, Gladys Garland, Pearl Honeycutt, Bonnie Harrison, and Beulah Whitson; as well as his granddaughter, Emily Beth Whitson.
Surviving family include his loving wife of almost 61 years, Louise Whitson; his daughter, Melanie Warden of Gray, grandchildren, Caleb and Chelsey, Maddie and Colton; his son, Jeff Whitson and wife Lori, grandchildren, Ashley and Aaron, Taylor and Amanda; his daughter, Susie Wolfe and husband Todd, grandchildren Delanie and Nathan, and Haley and Michael; great-grandchildren: Kimber, Ella, Laurel, Maple, Cason, Lincoln, Cohen, and Millie, and his sisters, Ora Barger, Martha Gschwind and Edna Crawford, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at Morris Baker Funeral Home in Johnson City on Friday, June 2, 2023. Receiving of friends will be from 4:00-6:00PM with the funeral service to follow at 6:00PM. The service will be livestreamed and available to view on the Morris-Baker website, under Bill's obituary page. The graveside will be held on Saturday, June 3rd at 2:00PM at Roselawn Memory Gardens. Those attending are asked to please meet at the cemetery by 1:50PM. Pallbearers will be grandsons: Caleb Warden, Taylor Whitson, Nathan Winningham, Michael Rice, Aaron Church, and Colton Horne.
