Betty Stricker Obituary

Betty Dean Morrison Stricker

September 30, 1944 -

July 8, 2025

Betty Dean Morrison Stricker, 80, of Johnson City, TN, a woman of devout Christian faith and boundless love for her family, passed away peacefully on the 8th of July, 2025, in the same city where she was born on September 30th, 1944. Betty, known for the warmth of her smile and the generosity of her spirit, leaves behind a rich tapestry of memories that will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her. Born into the Morrison family, Betty was a beacon of light amidst her siblings. While she is preceded in death by her beloved mother, Sarah Morrison, and siblings Kenneth, Ted, Peggy, Nancy, Helen, and Judy, she is fondly remembered by her sister Jayne Shotts, and brothers Ray Morrison (Linda) and John Morrison (Virginia) and sister, Margaret Marquez (Ed) together with her cherished nieces Maria Ford and Sheila Reed, and a host of other nieces and nephews who were touched by her unwavering kindness. A proud 1962 graduate of Boones Creek High School, Betty's pursuit of excellence in her studies was a precursor to the dedication she would later bring to her career. After years of committed service, she retired from the Ohio Department of Mental Health, where her contribution made a notable difference in the lives of many. Beyond her professional achievements, Betty's personal passions painted the world around her with love and beauty. Her quilts, crafted with care for family and friends, are treasured heirlooms that carry the story of her dedication and artistry. They serve as a testament not only to her skill but to her desire to envelop her loved ones in the same comfort and protection she bestowed throughout her life. Betty's life was a reflection of her faith. She lived her beliefs, offering kindness and support to all around her. Her unwavering commitment to the Christian values of love, charity, and compassion was evident in every action, from the way she cherished her family to the grace with which she approached her final days. The family of Ms. Stricker will receive friends from 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM on Wednesday, July 16th at North Johnson City Baptist Church located at 305 Ferndale Rd., Johnson City, TN. A memorial service to honor Betty's memory will follow, with Pastor Rick Powell officiating. Condolences and memories can be shared with the family online at www.snydersmemorialgardens.com.

Growing up our lives were filled with fun and at times fights. We loved relay races, swinging on grapevines and laughing at the sibling in trouble for whatever mischief we got ourselves into. We fought amongst ourselves but no one on the outside was allowed to pick on any of us. You were our biggest supporter your whole life, going to where you were needed, for however long it took. You took part in raising our kids even though you had none of your own, you were a mother just the same. You were always there for Momma. You lived up to your "Nurse Betty" nickname. You will be missed and are loved by so many. Love you Sis
