UNICOI - Betty Mae Hagy Musick, 88, of Unicoi, passed away on Saturday, July 22, 2023, at the Johnson City Medical Center.
She was born and raised in Washington County, a daughter of the late Graham Albert Hagy and Lena Bowers Brockwell.
Betty was a strong Christian and a longtime member of Grace Freewill Baptist Church. She spent time reading her bible and praying for others every day.
She loved flowers and enjoyed spending time in the garden watching the birds and butterflies. When she was indoors, she liked to pass the hours watching the Animal Planet and Family Feud, or sometimes just watching her daughter sew. She had a soft spot for animals and was especially fond of her little dog, Bambi.
Betty was a loving mother who dedicated her life to caring for her children. For the last ten years, her daughter had the opportunity to spend time with her mother and be a caregiver in return. Her son and daughter will miss her greatly, and she'll be in their hearts forever.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by one brother, Johnny F. Hagy.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Kathy Gibson and husband Anthony, Lee Tyree and wife Nancy; brother, Benny Hagy and wife Sheila; nephew and nieces, Benny Hagy Jr. and wife Teresa, Christy Wilson, and Brooke Rowland; as well as several grand-nieces, grand-nephews, cousins and friends.
The family of Betty Musick will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Tuesday, August 1, 2023 at Morris-Baker Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 6:00 PM, officiated by Reverend Curtis Hurt. A graveside service will be held at 3:00 PM the next day, Wednesday August 2, 2023, at Pearl Bowers Cemetery in Stony Creek. Those attending are asked to gather at the graveside by 2:50 PM.
