ERWIN - Betty Sue (Salyer) Moore, age 94, of Erwin, passed away on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at Governor's Bend Retirement and Assisted Living. A native of Elkhorn City, Kentucky, Betty is a daughter of the late Willie Logan and Cora Alice (Sloan) Salyer. She was a member of First Christian Church from 1961 until her passing. Her greatest gift in life was her love for her husband, children, grandchildren and extended family. In addition to her parents, Betty is preceded in death by her husband, Billy Joe "BJ" Moore; son, Billy Joe "Jody" Moore; twin sister, Patty Lou Salyer; and siblings: Ample Salyer, Hollis Salyer, Winfred Salyer, Polly Salyer, Goffrey Salyer, and Philistine Salyer.
Betty Sue (Salyer) Moore has left behind to cherish her memory: son, Steven "Tracy" Moore and wife, Becky; daughter-in-law, Angela Moore; grandchildren: Spencer Logan Moore, Marisa Shay Moore, Troy Peyton Moore, Carson Elizabeth Moore, Claire Renee Moore, Hillary Christine Edwards, and Garret Lee Edwards; great grandchildren: Mia, Elliott, Cora and Lilly; and many loving nieces and nephews.
The family would like to offer special thanks to Shannon Tino for all of the loving care and support to our mother; to Governor's Bend Retirement and Assisted Living for providing care for the past eight years; and to all her nieces and nephews who loved and cared for her.
The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence as we offer tribute and remember the life of Betty Sue (Salyer) Moore in a committal service to be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, August 2, 2025, in the mausoleum chapel at Evergreen Cemetery. Reverend Jim Snell will officiate. Those attending the committal service should meet at the Evergreen Cemetery Mausoleum by 10:30 am on Saturday for the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Betty's honor to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or online at www.stjude.org; or to Lighthouse Baptist Church, 2539 Zane Whitson Dr, Unicoi, TN 37692.
