JOHNSON CITY - Betty Evelyn Hipp Markland, age 91, of Johnson City, Tennessee went to be with the Lord on Friday, January 31, 2025 at NHC of Johnson City. She was born on October 17, 1933 in Johnson City, Tennessee, a daughter of the late Eugene Scalf Hipp Sr., and Sallie Garmany Hipp. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Ray Edward Markland; her brothers Eugene S. Hipp, Jr and Roy H. Hipp; and her sister, Helen Hipp Lilley.

She is survived by a niece, a nephew, several cousins, and a host of friends.

She was a member of Central Church of Christ. She worked many years for United Telephone System. She was a talented seamstress, giving many examples of her beautiful needlework to her coworkers and family over the years.

Family and friends are welcomed at Central Church of Christ, 2722 E. Oakland Avenue, Johnson City, TN on Thursday, February 6, 2025 starting at 10:30AM. The funeral service follows at 11:00AM with Minister Tim Hall officiating. Private Committal Service and Interment will be held in Section I at Monte Vista Memorial Park.
