Betty Edwards Obituary

ERWIN - Betty Jean Edwards, age 83, of Erwin, passed away on Thursday, November 2, 2023 at her home with her loving family by her side. A native of CT, Betty is a daughter of the late David Bryant and Ora (Renfro) Bryant. She was a member of Congregational in Connecticut and attended Ninth Street Baptist Church. Betty retired from the State of Connecticut where she worked for the DMR Department. She loved her family and in her earlier years was president of the square-dancing club. Betty grew up in Erwin, TN then after moved to Connecticut to raise a family of her own. In addition to her parents, Betty is preceded in death by her husband Lawrence I. Edwards Sr., son, Lawrence I. Edwards Jr. and sister Almarie Suter.

Betty Jean Edwards has left behind to cherish her memory: a daughter, Marsha Olszta (Ken) of Erwin; grandchildren: Heather Pehowey (Corey) of Kingsport, TN, Thayer Olszta (Loren) of New Britton, CT, Emily Olszta (Issacc Banner) of Erwin; great-grandchildren: James, Taylor, Zander, Walker, Michael and Lilly; sisters: Mary Ann Graybeal of Erwin, Hazel Tolley of Erwin, Nancy Bass of Powell, TN.

The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence as we offer tribute and remember the

life of Betty Jean Edwards in a funeral service to be held at 7:00 pm on November 10, 2023 in the Chapel of Valley Funeral Home. Reverend Steve Rice will officiate. A visitation period to share memoires and offer support to the family will begin at 5:00 PM and will continue until service time on Friday at Valley Funeral Home. A committal service will be held at a later date in Connecticut.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Ninth Street Baptist Church at 310 9th St, Erwin, TN 37650.

The family would like to give special thanks to Clara, Patricia Frasier, Megan, Dr. Nave, Dr. Tran and her dear friend Clara for all their love and support.
