Betty Lee (McNabb) Daniel May 13, 1931- April 9, 2024
ERWIN - Betty Lee (McNabb) Daniel, age 92, of Erwin, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 9, 2024. Betty was born on May 13, 1931, the only daughter of Otto Harry and Viola Lee (Wilson) McNabb. She attended Carson-Newman College and graduated with a 4-year degree in Elementary Education in 1953. She began her teaching career at a private school in Kingsport and then went on to teach at a two-room schoolhouse in Coffee Ridge, eventually moving on to Elm Street Elementary and then retiring from Evans Elementary School in Erwin in 1991, after 38 years of teaching. Betty treasured her students and loved keeping in touch with them throughout the years.
In addition to her parents, Betty is preceded in death by her husband, Jack Stinson Daniel, and two brothers: Samuel "Sam" Grant McNabb and John Robert McNabb.
Betty Lee (McNabb) Daniel has left behind to cherish her memory: daughter, Cindy Meade and husband Tom, of Erwin; granddaughter, Raven (Range) Edwards and husband David, of Knoxville; grandson Robbie Meade and girlfriend Alex Cirulus, of Blowing Rock, NC; great-grandchildren: Parker Edwards and Mary-Kate Edwards; and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to offer special thanks to the staff and caregivers of the Center on Aging and Health for the loving care provided to Betty.
The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence as we offer tribute and remember the life of Betty Lee (McNabb) Daniel in a graveside committal service to be held at 11:00 am on Friday, April 12, 2024 in Evergreen Cemetery. Reverend Karl Gasser will officiate. Those who wish to attend the committal service should meet at Evergreen Cemetery by 10:50 am on Friday for the service. Serving as active pallbearers will be: Parker Edwards, Tom Meade, David Edwards and Robbie Meade.
