Bertha Irvin, 97, departed this life on January 18, 2025 and moved into life everlasting with the Father, Son & Savior Jesus Christ.
Bertha was born on June 19, 1927, in Evansville, Indiana to the late James Merriweather and Cornelia Moore. While in her mid-twenties, Bertha confessed with her mouth and believed in her heart that God raised Jesus from the dead so that she would be saved.
In addition to her parents, Bertha was also preceded in death by her wonderful husband William Bradley Irvin; their daughters, Patricia Meriwether and Pamela Johnson, as well as their only son, Kenneth Irvin; and her siblings Ernestine Howard and Elmer Allen, Sr.
Bertha is survived by three of their daughters, to carry on and cherish her memory, Janice Irvin, Brenda Irvin-Johnson (Clarke), and Sonia Irvin; brother James Johnson (Shirley); and the grandchildren who are left to continue her legacy are Clarence Meriwether Jr, Carl Meriwether, Rickey Boyd Jr (Lori), Ira Boyd, Brandee Boyd, Nyiesha Lashbrook (John), Clarke Johnson II, Vernon Irvin-Smith (Shay), Brandon Irvin-Smith (Porsha), and Nia Irvin-Smith.
We would like to give an honorable mention to Valarie Perry, Dianne Williams and Natalie Parish. These three nieces helped to fill her days with their love, time, and gifts. Last but not least, along with the aforementioned loved ones, Bertha leaves a long-standing line of great-grandchildren, great great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
