Mr. Benjamin Ray Bishop "Big Ben" "Benny" went to be with the Lord Thursday, January 15, 2026 in the comfort of his home. Benny was the son of the late Robert Silvester Bishop and Iva Jean Hodge Bishop. He was born on March 6, 1958 in Washington County, TN where he resided all of his life. Mr. Bishop was a member of the Tri-Cities Church of God as well as a member of the Limestone Volunteer Fire Department. He worked for American Limestone before retiring from Ready Mix USA. After retirement you could find him riding his dune buggy, fishing Little Wilbur Dam and spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Mr. Bishop in addition to his parents was preceded in death by his late wife, Gloria Hill Bishop and a brother, Joel Keith Bishop Sr.

Surviving family members include his former wife and mother of his children, Kathy L. Bishop; a son, Benjamin Robert Bishop and his wife, Laura of the home; a daughter, Cherie Nichole Bishop of Johnson City; a step-son, Jeffery Sheets of Baltimore, MD; grandchildren, Breannah R. Bishop, Michael A. Bishop, Bayleigh R. Bishop and Benjamin R. Bishop; siblings include Ronald S. Bishop, Michael S. Bishop, Anna L. Lusk and Martha McClure; several nieces and nephews. He was surrounded by the love of his amazing friends and neighbors.

A memorial service for Mr. Bishop will conducted at 2:00 PM Saturday, January 24, 2026 at the Tri-Cities Church of God, 238 Jonesboro Road, Piney Flats, TN 37686 with Pastor Richard Bawgus officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until the service hour.

The family would like to say a special thank you to the caregivers of Smokey Mountain Hospice, especially Karen and Brandi for their amazing care and kindness.
