ELIZABETHTON - Ben David McGill, 92, Elizabethton, joined his loving wife in heaven March 12, 2024. Mr. McGill was a resident of The Waters of Roan Highlands. He was born on December 15, 1931 in Milan, TN. The son of Mitchell B and Lillie M. (Frazier) McGill. Ben attended Sullivan East High School and served in the US Navy aboard the USS Sperry. He married Eva Mae Gortney in June 1956 and settled in Kingsport, TN and then moved to Elizabethton. He retired from ARA Vending Service and then again from Murray Guard. Ben was loved by all for his laughter, sense of humor and his flat top haircut. He loved western movies and books, fishing and his family and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Marvin and Mitchell R and his sister Shirley Tate and his loving daughter-in-law Kristy McGill. Surviving family includes his children: David (Marie), of Crossville; Paul (Margaret), Bristol; Robert, of Kingsport, Dora Marie Morrell (Eddie) of Elizabethton. Grandchildren, Benay Reilly (Chris), Bradford McGill (Jennifer), Whitney Hodges (Andrew), Samuel Blevins (Lindsey), Conner Blevins (fiancé Clara). 8 great-grandchildren, Dylan, Maloree, and Greysen Reilly, Tierney and Declan McGill, Kaylee and Cheyenne Hodges, Evalyn (Evie) Blevins.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 17, 2024 in Memorial Funeral Chapel. Graveside Service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday, March 18, 2024 in Washington County Memory Gardens. Military Honors will be provided. Music will be provided by: Angela Bowman and Walter Hall. Pallbearers will be Children and Grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 12 to 2 p.m. Sunday prior to the service.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff at The Waters of Roan Highlands for the excellent care and love they showered on their father. The staff at Gentiva Hospice for the great care they provided. Family and friends will assemble at the cemetery at 9:50 a.m. Monday.
