Barbara Mominee Obituary

Barbara Jane Bowman Mominee August 27, 2024

FREMONT, OH - Barbara Jane Bowman Mominee, 83, Fremont, OH, died Tuesday, August 27, 2024, at her home, surrounded by her loving children, following a lengthy illness.

Barbara was a native of Carter County, TN, and lived in Northern Ohio most of her life. She was the daughter of Van Scott and Vesta Sue McMackin Bowman.

Barbara retired from U.S. Gypsum after more than thirty-five years of service.

She raised all six of her children in the village of Bay View, OH, on Lake Erie. Barbara was a loving mother and grandmother. While in Bay View, she was active in many organizations and community events. Barbara enjoyed working on her family's genealogy, and amateur archeology (there was not a rock or artifact that she did not love). She loved to hunt "turtle rocks" in the Vermilian River and find arrowheads with her children and grandchildren. Barbara was a story teller, and loved to tell a good joke simply to see her loved ones laugh and smile.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by Frank Mominee, two brothers, Glenn Bowman and Jimmy Ray Bowman.

Barbara is survived by her six children, Van F. Mominee (Lisa), Telford, TN, Brenda Sue Lovell, Fremont, OH, Donald Eugene Mominee, Fremont, OH, Teresa Jean Mominee, Fremont, OH, Dana Kim Hagelberger (Bill), Milan, OH, F. William Mominee, Johnson City, TN; special daughter-in-law, Rebecca Mominee, Johnson City, TN; nine grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; one brother, Mack Eugene Bowman, Johnson City, TN; several nieces and nephews.

The graveside funeral service will be conducted Saturday, September 28, 2024, at 10:00 A.M., in Roselawn Memory Gardens, Johnson City, TN, with Pastor Luka Temaj, officiating. Those planning to attend are to meet at the cemetery by 9:50 A.M. Saturday.

I am sorry to hear this news. William it's been a long time since we've crossed paths, but your mom was a very special lady. She left a memory on my heart since elementary school. I wanted to express my sincere condolences to you and your family on the loss of your mother.
