JOHNSON CITY - Barbara Ann Lyons (Anderson), 81, Johnson City went home to be with the Lord, Tuesday, February 17, 2026 in the Sycamore Shoals Hospital. She was a native of Unicoi and was a daughter of the late Robert and Viola Woodby Sneyd.
Barbara was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She attended New Life Church in Johnson City and Maranatha Tabernacle in Unicoi. She had worked for Tulsa Dental for many years. Barbara loved her family so much and was so proud of all of her grandchildren. She loved to walk the Tweetsie Trail and make new friends. Barbara enjoyed cooking for her family and friends. She will be so missed by all who knew her.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, Jesse Lyons in 2005; her second husband, Jerry Anderson in 2018; three brothers, Bobby, Bradley and Buddy Sneyd; four sisters, Betty Smith, Bonnie Hyder, Beatrice Caldwell and Betsy Morton.
Survivors include her two daughters, Lisa Bennett (Keith Grindstaff) and Carolyn Lyons both of Johnson City; two grandsons, Christopher Bennett (Monica) and Joseph Smith (Amanda); two granddaughters, Alicia Bennett (Erik Rucker) and Jessica Smith; three great-granddaughters, Ambrosia Bennett, Phoenix Bennett and Alyse Bennett ( Captain); three great-grandsons, Silas Rucker, Liam Smith and Ashton Price; many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Barbara will be conducted at 7:00 PM Monday, February 23, 2026 in the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home, 800 E. Watauga Avenue, Johnson City with Pastors Larry Dugger and Dallas Dugger officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until the service hour. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, February 24, 2026 in the Mountain Home National Cemetery with Pastor E.L. Wheeler officiating. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.

Barbara was the sweetest person. She gave me a ride to walmart and.she told me stories about Jessica and her brother and I laughed so hard. Heaven was lucky they have an angel. My condolences to.her family.

I'm so sad to hear of Barbara's passing. She came into our family when I was a young girl and was always funny and kind and so thoughtful of others. I can hear her laughter ringing in my ears right now. Now in our later years I am so grateful for her kindness to my sweet mother, being there for her when I couldn't be. We will miss her tremendously. Deepest condolences to Carolyn and Lisa and all the family that I know are just heartbroken. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.
