Barbara Ann Hampton November 17, 1936- June 12, 2024
MARTINSBURG, WV - Barbara Ann Hampton, 87 of Martinsburg, WV passed away on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, at Harmony of Martinsburg, WV and had previously lived in Unicoi, TN. She was born on November 17, 1936, in Charles Town, WV, the daughter of the late Garland Henry and Mary Ott Henry. She attended Charles Town High School graduating in 1954. And was a member of the Methodist faith.
Barbara devoted twenty-five years of service to the Dawn of Hope in Johnson City, TN, as a life skills teacher for mentally challenged adults. During her time there she developed close relationships with her clients and coworkers, and at times provided client respite care in her home.
Once retired, she enjoyed visiting with relatives and friends. Barbara was an avid reader and read actively throughout her lifetime. Her love of books was evident in her Tennessee home where her vast collection was displayed.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 65 years, John Hampton and her brother, Dave Henry.
Surviving family members are her sons, Terry Hampton and wife Kristin, Gray, TN, Chuck Hampton and wife, Joyce of Ranson, WV, grandchildren, Jason Hampton, (Raina Williams), Jennifer Hampton, Lindsey Sederstrom, (Daniel), and Chelsea Hampton. Great-grandchildren Ethan, Tristan, Oliver and Milo, numerous loving nieces, cousins, and devoted friends; Carol McGill and Lori Casey.
The family would like to extend a special Thank you to Harmony of Martinsburg, WV and Hospice of the Panhandle.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, June 27 at 10:00am at Mountain Home Cemetery in Johnson City, TN where she will join her husband, John.
