Ava Morley Obituary

ELIZABETHTON - Ava Nell Morley, age 86, of Elizabethton, TN passed away Monday, October 9, 2023 in the Abundant Christian Living Community. She was born in Watauga County, NC to the late Arlie and Mae Eggers.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her three siblings, Louise Whitehead, Cecil Eggers and Carolyn Pierce.

Ava retired after 40 years working as a salesclerk at Advanced Auto Parts. She was an active member of Dungan Chapel Baptist Church where she was a Sunday School Teacher and a member of the choir. Ava also was an active member of Women's Missionary Union. She loved to cook for her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 65 years, JB Morley, of the home; son, James Morley (Janet), of Elizabethton; two grandchildren, Kristin Taylor (Jacob), of Wiesbaden, Germany and Jamie Morley, of Elizabethton; three great-grandchildren, Seth Taylor, Carly Taylor and Ellie Taylor, all of Wiesbaden, Germany; one sister, Glenda Parks, of Elizabethton and several nieces and nephews also survive.

A service to celebrate the life of Ava will be conducted at 5:00 PM on Sunday, October 15, 2023 in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton with Reverend Teddy Lewis officiating. The family will receive friends between the hours of 4:00 PM until 5:00 PM prior to the service on Sunday. Friends may also call the home of her son.

The graveside service and committal will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, October 16, 2023 in the Caldwell Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers are Jason Presnell, Jeff Presnell, Travis Eggers, Matthew Woodring, Terry Morley, Mike Nidiffer and Todd Morley. Those who wish to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the funeral home at 12:15 PM on Monday to go in procession to the cemetery.
