Anthony Norton Obituary

BLUFF CITY - Anthony (Tony) Wade Norton, 59, of Bluff City, TN, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 4, 2025. He was born in Greenville, TN to (late) Grady Norton and Carol (Shelton) Norton on May 14, 1965. Tony was a veteran of the United States Air Force and stationed in Alaska. While there, he worked as a jet engine mechanic and was honorably discharged in 1989. After returning home to Tennessee, he earned three Masters degrees from ETSU in Johnson City, where he taught adjunct accounting courses. He also taught adjunct briefly at Northeast State University. He worked in finance for several large businesses. After he retired, he worked part-time for Wheeler Methodist Church in accounting and program administration.
Tony was a kind soul who loved and helped his family and friends any way he could. He loved working on cars and trucks, traveling, going to concerts and theater shows, and attending sporting events. He leaves behind his daughter, Susannah Norton; mother, Carol Norton; sister, Pamela (Norton) Cummings; niece, Emily (Nash) Mifsud (husband Tyler); nephew, Matthew Nash (fiancé, Grace Griffin); as well as several cousins and close friends. He is preceded in death by his father, Grady Norton of Johnson City, TN; grandparents, Emily (Cutshall) and Baxter Shelton of Marshall, NC; grandparents, Minnie (Metcalf) and Mathew Norton of Marshall, NC; as well as several aunts and uncles on both sides.
Special thanks to his best friend, Ray LaVigne, who was by his side when he went home to the Lord. Also, special thanks to cousins, Anthony Norton and his wife Judy, for their help.
The family will receive visitors at Tetrick Funeral and Cremation Services, 3001 Peoples Street, Johnson City, 37604, on Wednesday, March 12 from 5:00-7:00 pm. The funeral will follow immediately after at 7:00 pm. The Graveside and Committal Service will be held on Thursday, March 13 at 11:00 am at the VA National Cemetery in Johnson City. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Everyone is asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:00 am for the procession.
