Alton A. Pace

December 20, 2025

JOHNSON CITY - Alton A. Pace, age 97, of Johnson City, passed away on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at Holston Valley Medical Center.

Alton was born on February 5, 1928, in Covington, Tennessee, to the late Anderson and Emma Pace. He attended Byars-Hall High School and proudly served his country as a United States Army veteran.

Throughout his working life, Alton was involved in farm implement sales and was also the owner of both a drug store and a fabric store in Covington, Tennessee. He later worked at Coleman-Taylor Transmission in Memphis, Tennessee. He was a faithful member of Boones Creek Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, Alton was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary R. Pace, and his sisters, Virginia Pace, Joyce Rafferty, and Gladys Stafford.

Those left to cherish his memory include his daughter, Nancy Pace of Fall Branch, Tennessee; his son, Mark Pace (Susan) of Tampa, Florida; his granddaughters, Kelli (Buddy) Hardiman of Barrington, Rhode Island, and Kayley Wagner (Chris) of Tampa, Florida; as well as five great-granddaughters and one great-grandson.

The funeral service for Alton will be conducted on Friday, January 2, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Tetrick Funeral Services in Johnson City, with Jason Royston officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.

A graveside service will follow at Snyder Memorial Gardens in Gray, Tennessee.
