Alma Evans (Yarber) Mitchell-Ledford

UNICOI - God called one of his angel's home, Alma Mitchell-Ledford, age 91, of Unicoi, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, July 25, 2025 after a six-year battle with stage four cancer. She was a lifelong resident of Unicoi County and daughter of the late John Newton and Rachel Garland Yarber.
Alma was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend to all who knew her. She worked as a sales manager for many years. She was employed by Giant Grocery, Johnson City Mall, Bargain City, Cherry Drive In and Cress's for a total of fifty-two years.
Alma was a lifetime member of Unicoi Freewill Baptist Church. She was a devoted Christian and had strong faith in God. She was a member of the Washington County Beekeeper's Club.
Alma loved family holiday gatherings, babysitting her grandsons, trips to Dollywood and Pigeon Forge. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, cross-country bus trips, and beekeeping with her husband Glenn.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband and father of her children, Willard Lelon Mitchell; her last husband, Glenn Ledford who passed away July 2, 2025; four brothers: Boots, John, Jack, and Harry Yarber; two sisters: Edith McCurry and Ruth McKinney.
Alma leaves behind to cherish her memory, three daughters: Sharon Peterson (Kenneth), Lisa Potter (Bobby), Melanie Woodby (Joe); five grandchildren: Joshua Miller (Morgan), Thomas Potter (Katie), Christopher Potter (Brianna), Quentin Mosley (Carrie), Dave Mosley; great grandchildren: Wesley & Finn Miller, Khloe Potter, Klaire Potter, Faylnn Potter, Lucy Potter, Angel Baby Kennedy Potter; step great grandchildren: Brantley McKinney, Easton and Mason Hamby; special nephews, Jackie Yarber (Elizabeth) and Bruce Greenwell; special friends, Tim and Penny Higgins, Mr. and Mrs. Craig Tober, Nathan and Dawn Jennings .
Alma's family will receive friends on Friday August 1, 2025 from 12:00 noon until 1:00 pm at the Unicoi Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm with Pastor Nathan Jennings officiating. Pallbearers will be Joshua Miller, Quentin Mosley, Chris Potter, Thomas Potter, Joe Woodby, and Dave Mosley. She will be laid to rest privately in Philadelphia Cemetery, Limestone, TN.
