Alean Roberts Hughes February 9, 1935 - September 13, 2024

ERWIN - Alean Roberts Hughes, age 89, of Erwin, passed away on Friday, September 13, 2024, at Erwin Health Care Center. She was a lifelong resident of Erwin and daughter of the late Cas Roberts and Linda Edwards Roberts.

Alean retired from Sears where she worked for over twenty years. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church since she was thirteen years old. Before her husband, Sherrill passed away they enjoyed traveling all over the United States.

In addition to her parents, Alean was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-nine years, Sherrill Hughes; brother, Jay W. Roberts; four sisters: Rosetta, Mary Lee, Elva, and Dollie; one nephew.

Alean is survived by eleven nephews, and ten nieces; several great nieces and nephews; a few great-great nieces and nephews.

Alean's graveside service will be held on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. in the Evergreen Cemetery. Pastor David Crutchfield will officiate. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery by 12:50 p.m. on Wednesday.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made in memory of Alean to: Calvary Baptist Church, Building Fund, 540 Adams Street, Erwin, Tennessee 37650.

Alean was very thankful for the care she received from her special nephew and niece, Stephen and Sharon Gryder. The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the Erwin Health Care Center staff and Victoria with Gentiva Hospice.
