Jimmy Russell Hayes Sr., 59, of Bangor passed away on Feb. 20, 2026.
Born on Aug. 19, 1966, Jimmy was a lifelong Michigan man who believed in hard work, strong friendships and showing up fully in every room he walked into. He spent 25 years working as a dedicated journeyman millwright, earning the respect of those alongside him through his work ethic, skill and unwavering commitment. Outside of his trade, Jimmy was a blueberry farmer for most of his life – a role that reflected both his roots and his love for the land.
Jimmy was truly the life of the party. He could strike up a conversation with anyone, anywhere, and had a rare gift for turning strangers into lifelong friends. His laugh was contagious, his presence was big, and he worked very, very hard for the people he loved.
He is lovingly remembered by his mother, Beverly Kyle; companion, Jami Walker; the mother of his children, Mary Hayes; his children: Jimmy Hayes (Taunya Hayes), Steven Hayes (Haleigh Hayes) and Cassandra Smith (Richard Smith); stepchildren: Ebony Bowen (Josh Bowen), Dantae Sisson, Olivia Walker; and his cherished grandchildren: Alexis, Aubrey, Abbie, Aryan, Levi, Dax, Kaliyah, Izaiah, Renlee, Harper, Hayden, Taruh and Kallie.
Jimmy's greatest pride was his family. The legacy he leaves behind lives on in each of them – in their strength, their laughter, and the stories they will continue to tell.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
