Heather Sewcyck Obituary

Heather Marie Sewcyck, 39, of Grand Rapids, Mich., born Sept. 13, 1986, suddenly passed on Feb. 23, 2026, at Trinity Hospital of complications following a prolonged autoimmune illness.

Heather graduated from Coloma High School in 2004 and attended Grand Valley State University where she earned her bachelor's degree in 2008.

Heather was the caring and loving daughter and survived by Paul "Tim" Sewcyck of Coloma and Gayle (Baugher) Bassett of Sister Lakes, and sister of Matthew (Melissa Richards) Sewcyck of Benton Harbor.

Along with her grandmother, "Ba" Christean Sewcyck, who she loved beyond measure, she is survived by her aunt and uncle: Theresa (Sewcyck) and Mark Gamble, who loved her like a dear daughter.

Heather's greatest joy was spending time with her family which included being an aunt to her nephew Brenner, who she adored and absolutely loved chasing and playing his games, and her niece Gemma.

Besides her family, Heather's second love was being a doggie mom to her beloved Mandos and Evey, both pittie-mix rescues. Anyone who knew Heather would say she was a dog whisperer who never met a pup she didn't love.

Heather also truly enjoyed music and attending concerts and music festivals with her close friends.

Heather is preceded in death by her grandparents: "Papa Wally" Sewcyck, "Papa Chuck" and Edie Baugher and Shirley Baugher.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 27, at Duffield & Pastrick Family Funeral Home in Coloma, with visitation beginning at noon.
