Edward Armstrong Obituary

Edward Berneal Armstrong Sr., 88, of Eau Claire passed away peacefully on Feb. 15, 2026, at Buchanan Meadows Assisted Living facilities in Buchanan.

He was known as Ed to his friends and Bern to his close family members. He was born at home in Greene County, Ark., to Earl V. and Jessie Mabel (Stayton) Armstrong on Aug. 11, 1938. Ed spent his childhood in Arkansas, later moving to Berrien County as a young adult and spending the remainder of his life there.

He married Betty Branning in 1956 in Baroda and together they had seven children. He retired from Hermel Die Cast where he had worked most of his adult life. Ed worked hard to take care of his family and was always willing to help his friends and neighbors. He loved cars, animals, southern food and had a sweet tooth like his mama.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Betty and wife, Helen; granddaughter, Michelle Lynn Kaye; brother, Jerry and sisters: Virginia Earlene and Shirley Jean Armstrong.

He is survived by his seven children, daughters: Edith Kaye, Cynthia Armstrong; sons: Edward Jr., Matthew V., James R., David L. and Douglas E. Armstrong; one sister, Debra M. James; 17 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and many relatives and friends.

His cremains will be interred in Lake Dale Baptist Church Cemetery in Hardee County, Wauchula, Fla.
