I am very sorry to see this. Sincere condolences to the family. Mrs. Slanga was my very dear 6th grade teacher in Barre, VT (circa1964-1965). She was a wonderful and clever teacher. She gave us a riddle once regarding "muly, truly, & July". I was the first one to get it because I recognized my birthday.
About 10+ years ago I found her again and wrote her a letter then we correaponded via email. She said I made her entire week when she received my letter!
