Walter Curtis Richburg June 23, 1942-March 15, 2026 Walter C. Richburg, 83 years old, passed away Sunday morning, March 15, 2026. He was a true gentleman. Devoted husband. Great Dad. And best Grandad (Pappy) ever.
Walt was Born in
Roscoe, Tx. on June 23, 1942 to Monte Cristo, "Ole Cris", and Minnie Charlsie, "Other Momma", Richburg. He was the youngest of 4 children and is preceded in death by Zane Richburg, Than Richburg, and Krystal Aljoe.
Walt completed his B.S. in Agriculture Economics at Texas A&M in 1965. While in college, Walt married Jerita Jane Price of
Roscoe, Tx. They were married for 60 years. Following graduation from A&M University, Walt received his Master of Science degree in Agricultural Economics from Purdue University.
Walt spent his professional career in banking. He began his career in
Victoria, Tx. as the Vice President and Agricultural Officer for First Victoria National Bank. In 1976, his family settled in
Uvalde, Tx where Walt would become President and Chairman of the Board of the NBC Bank. After 14 years, he and Jerita moved to Fort Worth where Walt served as the national Managing Director of Farm & Ranch Management at Bank One.
Walt was civically involved throughout his years including the Kiwanis Club, Chamber of Commerce, Livestock Shows, Uvalde School Board, and Rotary Club. In 1985, he was named "Citizen of the Year" by the Uvalde Chamber of Commerce. Walt also served several years as the superintendent for the Fort Worth Stock Show.
Walt and Jerita raised two sons, Tate Richburg of Fredericksburg, and Trae Richburg of Gordonville, Tx.
Walt loved God and family. He was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in each community where he lived. Walt now resides in heaven with his Savior, Jesus Christ.
Walt leaves behind his wife Jerita and sons, Tate and Trae Richburg. Daughters in law: Tammy Richburg and Kimlynn Richburg Grandchildren: Sawyer Richburg & wife Whitley, Sydney Meek & husband Joe Meek, Sam Richburg & wife Carlie, and Addyson Richburg Great Grandchildren: John Joseph Meek, Hudson James Richburg, & Hallie Jane Richburg
The funeral service was held Monday March 23 at First Baptist Church of
Fredericksburg, Tx. Visitation began at 10:30 prior to the service.
