Richard Arndt Obituary

AUBURN/WATERLOO– Richard S. Arndt, 61, longtime resident of Waterloo, and most recently of Auburn, passed away at Auburn Community Hospital on Saturday, May 11, 2024. All services will be held at the convenience of his family.

Richard was born in 1963, the son of the late John and Ellen (Smith) Arndt. He grew up in Waterloo and graduated from Waterloo Central School, Class of 1981. After high school, Richard joined the US Air Force. He served for four years, and upon discharge came back home to Waterloo. He had worked for many years at Seneca Knitting Mill as a machinist before moving to Tarjac's as a painter, and most recently working for himself, helping his friends and neighbors as a handyman.

Richard had a lifelong passion for classic cars and music. He loved to play his bass guitar and could be found tinkering with his 1974 El Camino. He attended many of the area's summertime car shows. Starting at a young age and all through his life, he also collected HO cars and trains; a hobby he's passed onto his son and grandson as well. He also loved spending time with his grandson, Oakley.

Richard is survived by his son, Kevin (Jessica Law); grandson, Oakley; sisters, Joy (Paul) Doser and Dawn Arndt; brother, John (Amanda); nephews, Toby, Zeus, Griffin; niece, Shaina; and extended family. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a nephew, Devin Osterhout.
