Walter Accurso Obituary

Walter M. Accurso, 88, of Overland Park, Kansas, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on December 24, 2025.  Services will be held on Tuesday, December 30, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Kansas City, Missouri. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. followed by the Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery.

Walter leaves behind his sister Catherine Cannova; his brother Frank Accurso; his nieces and nephews Carmela Meyer (Larry), Carolyn Kirk (Kevin), Michael Accurso, Mary Davis (Tom), and Tammy McCormick; his great-nephews and great-nieces Nicolas Davis (Aundraya), Michael Kirk, Samuel Kirk, and Marlena Davis; and his great-great-nephews Rys and Tommy J. Davis.   

He was preceded in death by his parents Mike and Lena (Russo) Accurso; brother-in-law Mike Cannova; and sister-in-law Rosa Accurso.   

Walter was surrounded throughout his life by the extended family he cherished so deeply.  He found great joy in watching his nephews and nieces grow.  He was known for his love of telling jokes and sharing laughter.  He was always delighted in stories of the past – especially treasured family memories. He loved history and expressed his appreciation for the natural world through his paintings.  Above all, his family meant everything to him, and he will be deeply missed.
