Bill Morrison Obituary
Holmes Beach, FL - Bill Morrison (1943-2026) was a loving and generous husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He was born to William and Marion Morrison, now deceased. He was raised in Northampton, MA with his brother Donald and sister Kathleen. There he developed some of his life-long passions for golf and especially fly fishing. He received bachelors and masters degrees from the University of Massachusetts and devoted his professional life to helping teachers and students learn through the award-winning textbooks he worked on. He retired as Publisher for McDougal Littell in Evanston, IL. He lived in Holmes Beach on Anna Maria Island in Florida starting in 2009.
Bill was known for his wry sense of humor, his generosity of spirit, and his boundless kindness. He was an avid reader, a passionate fly fisherman, and an accomplished golfer.
Bill is survived by Marianne Hiland, his loving wife of 45 years, his sister Kathleen, his brother Donald, his son Sean, his daughter-in-law Julie and his grandchildren Lily, Patrick, Chris, and Willow. Sadly, he lost his oldest son James las year, whom he dearly loved.
In lieu flowers, please contribute to Feeding America or Covenant House. His ashes will be spread at a family gathering this summer at his favorite fishing stream in Yellowstone Park. The world is a better place because of Bill and he will be loved forever by those who had the privilege of know him.

Condolenses to Bill's family and other friends. Bill was a great friend and client. As a fly fishing guide, Bill and his friend Gary fly fished with me regularly in Sarasota for many years. Always a great time. He will be missed but I bet he is still casting from the other shore.

I met Bill and Marianne at my open house when they first came to Anna Maria. I sold them their home on the island and we've been friends ever since. We've shared some holiday meals together in that home. They have always treated me like family. I 'm glad they had time together to enjoy living on the island along with their family and friends. Bill will be missed by so many.

Bill was a year ahead of us @ Annunciation School in Florence and @ St Michael High School in Northampton MA. He set an inspirational standard for those behind him to strive to emulate in school activities like student government, sports and debate. A role model as well as a good guy.

My brother Rick and I played a lot of baseball and basketball with Billy in Florence, and also fished the Mill River together. Sorry to hear of Bill"s passing, condolences to his family.

I am sorry to hear of Bill´s passing. We were close friends growing up in Florence, MA. We attended Annunciation Grammer and St Michael High where Bill was class president for four years. Bill was a good athlete, a pitcher in baseball and a forward in basketball at St Mikes. I remember him hitting the winning basket just before the buzzer in a game against Frontier Regional. Bill was an excellent student and was an accomplished member of the debate team. He will be missed by all that knew him. My condolences to the Morrison family. Court Griffin
